Week of September 2-6

Math- We started to work on math strategies for subtraction. We continue to practice writing numbers 1-120. Word problems this week are subtraction within 10. Math facts review. Please practice games to build fluency. Each student will move up as they master facts in 60 seconds.

Reading- CogAT testing- Homework- Retell stories using transition words.

Writing- In Narrative writing we will be adding a rubric to guide our instruction. We are noticing that using conventions in writing is an area to improve.

Phonics- Short e words. The red sight words this week are does, what, know, knew and friend.

Science- Magnets is our standard. We are working on building vocabulary to discuss what is a magnet and how can I show what attracts to a magnet. We have done some exploring and reading some books about magnets to build knowledge.
