Math- Using tens and ones to add and subtract double digits. Using manipulatives and games to practice. Zearn we will continue to use lessons 26-28. We will send home a homework pack to review the same skills. We will be testing kids to see which strategy they use to be successful. Daily we will be solving word problems practicing strategies.
Writing- Opinion writing with Book Reviews. Lessons are on Dr. Seuss books. We will state our opinion, name the book, give three reasons and provide examples, use transition words, provide a small part of book bu,t leave our readers wanting more. Read books for homework and discuss some reasons you like it and why you would recommend it.
Phonics- red words: house, once, write, little, blue
How do I use magic e when I read? Lots of dictation and read sheets to practice all the rules and patterns we have learned this year.
ELA/Reading We are reading daily. We need to currently be reading on a Level G with fluency and comprehension. Our lesson is working on who is telling the story.
Science- We are learning about frogs this week. We listened today to different types of frog sounds. We have ordered a frog kit for each First Grade classroom to watch the life cycle of a frog. The frogs should arrive on Wednesday.
Social Studies- We are getting ready for the Voyage of Discovery this Friday. Thank you to all the parents that have volunteered to make this day exciting. We will start learning about Theodore Roosevelt.
