Week of October 21st-25th

Math- Problem Solving with numbers with in 20 and up to 3 addends. Using make a ten, organized pictures, tally marks, number line, count on, and count back to show how you solve. Collecting data with 3 different categories. Answering questions with how many more or less, How many in all were surveyed, How many of the two different categories. We will learn to use tally marks, picture graphs, and bar graphs to represent and record data.

Phonics- Ending blends camp, desk etc. Two letters together that each make their own sound. Red words: think, want, little, three, against.

Writing- Informational writing with a focus on a topic sentence and hook. Mini lessons will be on how to include facts and how to support with details. This could be with a twin sentences or compare sentences.

Reading- Non-fiction text features. Heading, labels, table of contents, index, glossary, real photographs. Read some non-fiction books to help build knowledge for writing.

Science- Starting to learn about light. What is light? What are shadows? How are they made? What is a natural source of light and artificial source?

Social Studies- Who is Thomas Jefferson? He is a man who was a hero. What are his contributions to America? Help your child learn one fact to bring to school to share with us.

BAT DAY will be on Friday. We will read, write, count, and do some Art all about bats.
