Math- We are continuing to find strategies to solve addition and subtraction equations. We will be learning more on how to use related facts to solve equations. Problem solving is with 3 addends and using make a ten strategy . Homework is to learn your double facts and continue to practice popcorn facts.
Writing- Informational writing with connections to text - How to catch a turkey?, What are Thanksgiving rules?, How to disguise a turkey?, and How to make pumpkin pie? We are practicing tell expert facts with partners and how to support details. Anchor charts are hanging to remind us to have a topic sentence, transition words, and a closing.

Phonics-Red words look, walk, today, wants. We will be learning a new rule. The ck rule. Immediately after a short vowel, at the end of a one syllable word, spell /k/, -ck. Hooray. We will also review in small group the c vs k rule and the floss rule. We are noticing that applying the rule in writing and on the spelling test is still a struggle for most students.
ELA-Main idea and details in informational text. We have some great text connections for this time of year.
Science-Sound unit. What is an emergency signal? How can you tell one from another? Can you tell me about pitch? high or low . Can you tell me about volume? loud or soft.
Social Studies-Benjamin Franklin-Who is he? What contributions did he make?
