January 13th through 17th

Math- We are working on solving math story problems within 20. We are using strategies to solve. We will continue to represent tens and ones , ten more, ten less and compare using symbols <,>, =.

Writing- We are using our collections to state our opinion. We are learning how to use different transition words- one reason, another reason, my favorite reason to show different ways to support our reason. We are using the OREO anchor chart to help us remember. Opinion, reasons, examples , re-state opinion.

Phonics- Red words- things, next, because, write, girl

We are working on reviewing suffix s and es. Playing games to reinforce. We will practice dictation daily and Friday take our tests.

Reading- Central Message through Kevin Henkes Author study. Juilius Baby of the Word and Lily's Big Day. Then celebrating 100th day with The Night Before the 100th Day of School. Friday we will use the book Olivia. We are independently practicing reading to self and with groups to build on fluency and expression. This quarter we need to read a level G or above to be on grade level. Continue to retell story when reading at home and sharing why the author wrote the story and what is the message.

Science-All about bears. Lots of books, videos , games and experiments to learn facts about movement, habitats, what they eat and where they live.

Social Studies- This week we need to be able to identify and describe land forms. What state is our home? What makes it special? What land forms is Georgia known for? We will review Continents, Country and State. We will locate Georgia on a map of the world and use terminology and use the compass rose to review directions.
